Comcast Names First Five DOCSIS 3.1 Markets

Comcast plans to introduce DOCSIS®3.1-based gigabit service to residential and business customers in Atlanta and Nashville in early 2016, with Chicago, Detroit and Miami scheduled to follow in the second half of the year. Read the full article in Broadband Technology Report. According to ABI Research, DOCSIS 3.1 technology is forecasted to reach nine million subscribers by 2017.

Five New CableLabs certified DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem products usher in a new generation of broadband services

Vendors Askey, Castlenet, Netgear, Technicolor and Ubee Interactive are now certified with more certifications to come in early 2016. LOUISVILLE, Colo, Jan. 13, 2016 – CableLabs, the research and development lab for the cable industry, today announced that five cable modem vendors have achieved the first DOCSIS 3.1 certifications. Newly certified products from Askey, Castlenet, Netgear, Technicolor and Ubee Interactive provide cable operators with critical components for a new generation of DOCSIS 3.1 services which demand multi-gigabit speeds. CableLabs Researching Small Cell Capacity
