The Future Is Bright but Secure

With great bandwidth, comes great responsibility... Over the last several years CableLabs has been engaged with standard organizations such as, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), to draft specifications and guide security baselines for IoT devices. This work has culminated in the release of OCF's international ISO\IEC specification for IoT interoperability. CableLabs and Altran Team up for Open Source Project

Project Adrenaline is an open source initiative that aims to help the cable industry build and manage edge networks and smooth the path for apps that can run on them. Adrenaline is part of the SNAPSTM Program that is being developed at CableLabs to "automate the installation of an open hardware platform with accelerators, including GPU and FPGA cards." A Win for Wi-Fi, the FCC Votes to Expand Wi-Fi Into the 6GHz Band

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has decided to release a new swath of wireless airwaves – known as the 6 GHz frequency band – to ensure our connections are resilient into the future. Opening the 6 GHz band will unleash unparalleled innovation and will also help to bring multi-gigabit connectivity and continued expansion of broadband performance for Americans in communities of all sizes. FCC Chairman Proposes to Open Entire 6 GHz Band for Unlicensed Wireless Broadband

Ajit Pai, FCC chairman, has drafted a proposal to open the 6GHz band for unlicensed wireless broadband. “With millions of Americans relying on broadband networks to remain connected and productive while practicing social distancing, the need for WiFi sharing in 6 GHz has never been more clear to more people," said Charter in a statement. "The FCC’s proposed 6 GHz Order will open up critical resources to improve WiFi performance as workers, students, patients, healthcare providers, and financial institutions rely increasingly on online connectivity." NCTA’s Dashboard for COVID-19: How Cable’s Internet Networks Are Performing

With the rise of "social distancing" in the COVID-19 pandemic, most of our daily activities and routines have moved online; our connections with others are now more important than ever. CableLabs Recognized as Collaborator

CableLabs has been recognized as a collaborator with the Open Networking Foundation. Though collaborators are not official members of the ONF, they are a valuable part of ONF's ecosystem.
