Dr. Zhensheng (Steve) Jia, Fellow and Director of Advanced Optical Technologies at CableLabs, has been elevated to IEEE Fellow class 2025 by the IEEE Board of Directors, recognizing his groundbreaking work in optical communication systems and broadband access networks. A leader in advancing coherent optics for access networks, Dr. Jia has been instrumental in developing technologies like 100G and 200G point-to-point coherent optics specifications and the 100G coherent passive optical network (CPON) specifications, already adopted by broadband operators in disaster recovery scenarios. With over 200 U.S. and foreign patents, 200 peer-reviewed articles, and contributions to key innovations like interoperable coherent optics, optical edge switching, and the convergence of fiber and wireless broadband networks, Dr. Jia has redefined network capabilities and extended the lifespan of cable infrastructure.
