Dr. Jason Rupe Elected as 2025 President of IEEE Reliability Society

Dr. Jason Rupe, a distinguished technologist at CableLabs, has been elected to lead the IEEE Reliability Society as its president in 2025. This position highlights Dr. Rupe’s expertise, positioning him at the helm of a global organization dedicated to advancing reliability in technology and systems. As president, Dr. Rupe will steer the society’s Administrative and Executive Committees, directing operations and initiatives to further strengthen IEEE’s contributions to reliability engineering and innovation.

With a Ph.D. from Texas A&M, Dr. Rupe brings a wealth of experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles at notable organizations, including USWEST, Qwest, Polar Star Consulting, and Tenica, where he was instrumental in driving technical advancements. His contributions to IEEE are significant; he has served as the managing editor of IEEE Transactions on Reliability, co-chaired the IEEE Blockchain initiative, and is currently the society treasurer. He was IEEE Reliability Society’s Engineer of the Year in 2021.

At CableLabs, Dr. Rupe is recognized for his work in proactive network maintenance, optical operations and maintenance, and network and service reliability, all areas critical to the future of network reliability. He was the CableLabs Inventor of the Year in 2020.
