Futurist, Former Head of Go To Market at OpenAI

Zack Kass is an AI Futurist, keynote speaker, consultant, adjunct professor and the former Head of Go To Market for OpenAI. He has spent over 14 years in AI, leading large teams at some of the industry’s most important companies. His mission is to ensure individuals, businesses, and governments are active participants in the AI-powered future by demystifying AI, making it accessible and understandable for everyone, and helping leaders navigate the rapidly evolving environment.

While Head of Go To Market at OpenAI, Zack worked at the helm of the key team channeling OpenAI’s innovative research into tangible business solutions. Zack built the teams responsible for OpenAI’s sales, partnerships, and customer success and served as a personal advisor to countless executives deploying the technology across their business. 

Today, he is considered one of the foremost thinkers in Applied AI. His thought leadership and techno-optimist views have been featured in countless publications, such as Fortune, Newsweek, Entrepreneur, AdAge, and Business Insider. Zack supports education and research at two major universities, and still advises Fortune 1,000 board rooms, including Coca-Cola, Morgan Stanley, and Amgen.

Damian Poltz

SVP, Wireline Networks & PMO, Rogers

As the Senior Vice President of Wireline Networks & PMO, Damian Poltz is responsible for leading Rogers wireline network and technology teams and national program management office. This includes consumer/business technologies, broadband, video, communication, customer equipment, core network and access technologies, as well as wireless, wireline and build programs. His responsibilities include driving cross-functional collaboration around technology strategy, and the modernization and growth of Canada’s largest cable and wireless footprint.

Throughout his 27-year career at Rogers and Shaw, Damian has served in strategic leadership roles including: SVP Wireline Technology & Strategy, VP Technology Strategy & Networks, Director of Network Technology, Sr. Director Communication Systems, Director IP Application Services, and Sr. Manager Video Application Development. Damian is currently serving as secretary on the Board of Directors for the SCTE, as well as secretary of the Cablelabs Technology Committee.
Damian holds an MBA with distinction from Cornell University and Queen’s University, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Calgary.

Jessica Shrum

Executive VP & Chief Strategy Officer, Cox Communications

Jessica Shrum is executive vice president and chief strategy officer, Cox Communications. She first joined Cox Communications in 2006, supporting several strategy, product and operations initiatives and has spent the last decade helping Cox Automotive develop and execute its future growth strategy.

At Cox Automotive, Jessica led strategy for the domestic portfolio where her team worked with senior leadership to set the direction for the automotive business. Jessica’s team defined how to optimize growth, prioritize strategic decisions and recommend near and long-term investments. In her most recent role, she led operations for one of the fastest growth divisions in the Cox family of companies – the Cox Automotive Mobility business. Jessica and her team delivered profitable, scalable growth for fleet vehicle repair and maintenance services and helped define the trajectory for the EV battery future.

Before joining Cox, Jessica served in corporate strategy at BellSouth/AT&T and advised numerous clients for Andersen Business Consulting.

An active volunteer in her community, Jessica recently served as the finance chair for a local non-profit, Communities in Schools of Atlanta (CISA), which was founded by Anne Cox Chambers. She also holds numerous volunteer positions at her children’s school.

Kevin Robinson

CEO, Wi-Fi Alliance

Kevin Robinson is a 15-year veteran of Wi-Fi Alliance and became CEO of the organization in October 2022. Kevin is focused on securing sufficient, harmonized global Wi-Fi spectrum, deepening engagement and cohesion across the Wi-Fi ecosystem, and evolving the organization to ensure it remains as nimble as the industry it serves.

Serving as Wi-Fi Alliance’s Vice President of Marketing for the last seven years, Robinson has led many of the organization’s most transformative initiatives and has been a leading ambassador for promoting Wi‑Fi and Wi‑Fi Alliance as a collaboration forum worldwide. Kevin oversaw branding, communications, market development, product management, program marketing, and public relations for the organization. He was also responsible for driving the development of Wi-Fi Alliance corporate strategy.

Before joining Wi-Fi Alliance in 2008, Kevin enjoyed working with early-stage technology startups on business strategy consulting and technology market research. Kevin is a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a Captain in the Infantry. Kevin holds a BS in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA with a specialization in Entrepreneurship from The University of Texas at Austin. He lives with his family in Austin, Texas.

Anne Nguyen

Managing Director, Corporate Strategy, Liberty Global

Anne Nguyen is the Managing Director of Corporate Strategy for Liberty Global, responsible for developing strategies related to Connectivity, Video, AI and Future trends as M&A support and corporate development.

Anne was previously Managing Director & Partner at Boston Consulting Group in TMT and Digital Advertising, with further experience working with digital native companies in the publishing and automative space.

She is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College and Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Larry Wolcott

Engineering Fellow, Comcast

Larry Wolcott is an Engineering Fellow at Comcast based in Denver, Colorado. Larry began his software career in 1986 and has been doing research and development in communications technology for the last 25 years. His main area of focus has been cable operations including tools, technology and has over 30 related patents. Larry is a founding member and active contributor to the CableLabs and SCTE Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) working groups. He is active with SCTE chapters, the Expo Program Committee and board member for the SCTE Foundation.

Wei Cai

Sr. Lead Data Scientist, Cox Communications

Data Science Lead with over 10 years of experience in engineering and advanced analytics, specializing in the development and implementation of scalable machine learning and AI systems. Holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, along with Master’s degrees in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Business Analysis, and Big Data Analytics. Proven expertise in applying machine learning to solve business challenges, including capacity management, growth prediction, customer churn, and dynamic pricing, using high-performance AI/ML models.

Edward Boyd

VP of PON R&D, Ciena

Edward Boyd is the VP of PON R&D for Ciena Corp. In December of 2022, Ciena acquired Tibit Communications where Mr. Boyd was the Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder. Tibit Communications was a Northern California startup company developing Pluggable Network Interface solutions including the world’s first Micro-OLT in an SFP+ form factor. Before Tibit, Mr. Boyd was the CTO and Co-Founder of Teknovus, Inc before it was acquired by Broadcom in March of 2010. Mr. Boyd was Senior Technical Director for Broadcom Corporation working on the Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) products before leaving to become a Co-Founder of Tibit. Mr. Boyd has more than 30 years of experience defining and developing ASICs for data communications, cable access networks, and telecom access networks. Mr. Boyd holds numerous patents in areas of cable modem, PON, and Ethernet networks. Mr. Boyd has been active in CableLabs, ITU-T (BPON/GPON), 25GS MSA, and IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet/EPON/EPoC) standards bodies.

Pao Lo

Vice President of Network Engineering, Midco

Dr. Pao Lo is the Vice President of Network Engineering at Midco and is responsible for the network architecture from the outside plant to the peering point that includes Core Routing and Optical Transport, MPLS Business Network, and Access Network. In the role, Dr. Lo has helped Midco define a fiber strategy for its next generation network. In 2021, Midco announced a $500 million, multi-year fiber investment initiative – Fiber Forward. The expansive investment will use the company’s robust fiber network and next gen fiber tech to bring 10 Gig speeds to Midco’s customers. Dr. Lo has been in the telecom industry for 25+ years.

Dr. Lo has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from NC State University; MBA from Wake Forest University; and an Educational Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University.

Dr. Robert Howald

Fellow, Comcast

Dr. Howald has over 38 years of technology and executive experience in commercial and military communications systems.  He is currently a Comcast Fellow, focused on the evolution of cable systems and services, future network architectures, and emerging broadband technologies. Rob held similar technology, management, and strategy roles within the cable industry at ARRIS, Motorola, and General Instrument. Rob was also Vice President of Engineering at Xytrans, specializing in millimeter wave systems for cellular backhaul and people screening for commercial asset protection and homeland security applications.

Dr. Howald has taught graduate courses in communications and wireless systems engineering, and has published and presented hundreds of technical papers related to cable technology and communications systems in industry and academic conferences and journals. He has a BSEE and MSEE from Villanova University, a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Drexel University, and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from DeSales University.

Eric McLaughlin

VP & GM Wireless Solutions, Intel Corporation

Eric McLaughlin is the Vice President and General Manager of the Connectivity Solutions Group for Intel Corporation responsible for delivering wireless solutions (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and software for Intel PC and IoT platforms. Eric is a 23-year Intel veteran with 19 of those years leading innovation, marketing, business development, and Product Line Management for Intel’s wireless portfolio. Prior to joining Intel in 2000, Eric held multiple management positions in the computer/technology industry including IT Manager, GM, VP, and CEO for small/medium businesses in the Seattle, WA area. Eric is a graduate of Brigham Young University.

Dejan Leskaroski

VP and Head of Product Management, Packet Core, Mavenir

Dejan Leskaroski is the Vice President and Head of Product Management at Mavenir. He is responsible for product-related activities as part of the Mavenir MAVcore business unit. The product portfolio includes the Mavenir Evolved Packet Core (EPC), the Mavenir cloud-native 5G Core (5GC), and the Mavenir Converged Packet Core providing support across 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi access. Dejan has over 25 years of telecom experience delivering products and solutions for many leading Tier-1 operators worldwide. He has managed Core and Radio Access Networks product porfolios, spanning across multi-genrational Network Functions, cloud-native platform integration, and network orchestration.

Alex Cronin

CEO, Nanites.ai

Alex Cronin is an AI evangelist, technology leader, and entrepreneur with over 17 years of experience transforming network infrastructure through innovation. As CEO of Nanites.ai, he is pioneering an autonomous AI-driven system designed to reduce MTTR and troubleshoot networks incidents up to up to 100x faster.

Alex’s expertise spans industry-leading technologies, including Arista, Juniper, SONiC, NVIDIA, and Cisco, as well as open-source infrastructure solutions. He has successfully led infrastructure projects from strategy and design to implementation and ongoing support, creating scalable and cost-effective solutions for data centers, service providers, and enterprises.

Alex has also recruited and managed teams of personnel across engineering, sales, and marketing, closed thousands of deals, and forged over 50 channel and OEM partnerships. A thought leader and technical writer in open networking, he leverages AI and open-source technologies to empower organizations to innovate and drive measurable business impact.

Carlo serves as the President of Xalyo Communications, a company dedicated to delivering meaningful innovation and quality services tailored to the telecommunications industry. Under Carlo’s leadership, Xalyo Communications brings together cutting-edge technologies from a curated ecosystem of partners to deliver solutions with the potential to drive significant business outcome.

Previously, the AVP of Product and Business Development at Calix, Inc., Carlo collaborates with C-suite executives to shape high-level strategies, manage multi-million-dollar product portfolios, and lead go-to-market and strategy for manage services offering for residential and small businesses.

As Executive Director for Product Management at Comcast, Carlo spearheaded the launch of groundbreaking broadband and security solutions, achieving milestones such as securing over 1 million customers in under eight months. His expertise extends to mergers and acquisitions, including leading Comcast’s entry into the smart home insurance market through strategic acquisitions. Carlo’s career highlights also include pioneering IoT product strategies, advancing connectivity standards, and introducing fixed-mobile convergence solutions.

Known for his ability to execute complex projects, Carlo has managed cross-functional teams worldwide, delivering disruptive innovations while driving significant revenue growth. With a Master’s in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University and a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin, he combines technical expertise with strategic vision. Carlo is also a thought leader, contributing to industry panels and organization on topics like IoT, Matter and and security.

Phil McKinney

President & CEO, CableLabs

Phil McKinney is the president and CEO at CableLabs, a non-profit research & development lab funded by the global cable industry. With a strong focus on innovation, McKinney is responsible for leading the development of technologies and specifications for the secure delivery of high speed data, video, voice and next generation services. He oversees testing, certification facilities and guides the
technical leadership for the industry, charting the course for future technology and
innovation.

Prior to CableLabs, McKinney held technology and innovation leadership positions in major companies including serving as the vice president and CTO for Hewlett-Packard’s Personal Systems Group, where he was responsible for long-range strategic planning, research and development for the company’s PC product lines. In addition, he was the founder and leader of HP’s Innovation Program Office
(IPO). The IPO was chartered to identify, incubate and launch adjacent and fundamentally new technologies, products and services that would become the future growth engines for HP. The success of the IPO is now shared in widely used case studies at Stanford University and Harvard Business School. McKinney also served as senior vice president and CIO at Teligent, and as a director at CSC.

Author, speaker and innovation guru, McKinney shares his rule-breaking approach to innovation and creativity in his book “Beyond the Obvious.” He has been credited with forming and leading multiple teams that Fast Company and BusinessWeek have listed as being one of the “50 Most Innovative.” His recognition includes Vanity Fair naming him the “The Innovation Guru,” MSNBC and Fox Business calling him “The Gadget Guy” and the San Jose Mercury News dubbing him the “chief seer.” In July 2015, his podcast, Killer Innovations™, became a nationally syndicated radio show that is carried by more than 30 radio stations across the U.S. In 2017, The Cable Center named McKinney an Innovation
Laureate, in recognition of his role as a trailblazer and key influencer who is
mentoring, teaching and motivating the next generation of cable industry leaders.

McKinney serves on the advisory board for Hacking Autism and he is chairman of the board for Pioneer Education Africa. In his spare time, he oversees his family VC fund, the Techtrend Group, that invests in for-profit start-ups to create economic growth as an alternative to traditional charity models.

Mark Bridges

Executive VP & CTO, CableLabs

Mark Bridges is Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at CableLabs, the non-profit research & development and innovation lab funded by the global cable industry. He leads CableLabs’ long-term vision by driving the development of technologies critical to the industry’s evolution including wired, wireless, network convergence and security. His areas of expertise include research and development of software-defined networks, network as a service/platform and cloud native architectures.

Mark previously served as the Vice President of the Future Infrastructure Group as part of the Office of the CTO at CableLabs, where he spearheaded strategic planning for the future of access network technologies and software platforms. With nearly 30 years of experience in communications and software development, Mark is a seasoned industry professional with a deep understanding of the communications and technology industries. His tenure at CableLabs began in 2010, and over the years, he has made significant contributions to the company’s technological advancements and strategic direction.

Prior to joining CableLabs, Mark was Director and Chief Architect at Avaya where he was instrumental in defining the technology strategy and architecture for Avaya Global Services’ next-generation service delivery platforms. Before joining Avaya, Mark was the founder and CEO of VCS, Inc., a systems integrator, and platform development company focused on creating business operations and service delivery support systems for various industries, with a particular emphasis on OSS/BSS platforms for the telecommunications industry. He led VCS to a successful merger in 2001.

Mark studied Information Systems at the University of Georgia where he met and married his wife of over 30 years. During his leisure time in the fall season, Mark can be spotted on Saturdays at his favorite breweries in his hometown, Longmont, Colorado – always cheering for his Dawgs!

Ron Reuss

EVP and Chief Strategy Officer, CableLabs

Ron Reuss is Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at CableLabs. Ron and his team work with CableLabs colleagues, members, and across the cable ecosystem to develop and deliver insights about customers, network behavior, markets, costs and competition. Ron’s team is also responsible for the management of innovation processes and working with teams to develop innovations, helping to ensure CableLabs’ ability to consistently bring game-changing solutions to the cable industry.
Ron has over 30 years of experience in the communications industry and was formerly Vice President of Technology Strategy at CableLabs. Prior to his tenure at CableLabs, he held roles in product management, product development and venture investment at
companies including Level 3 Communications, BellSouth, and Gray Ventures.

Ron holds a Master of Science degree in Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Humanities from MIT. He is also a certified competitive intelligence professional.

Josh Redmore

Principal Architect, CableLabs

Josh Redmore is Principal Architect, Wireless Access Technologies at CableLabs (Louisville, CO), where he focuses on inventing the future of Wi-Fi customer experience.
He holds leadership positions in the Wireless Broadband Alliance, Wi-Fi Alliance, and contributes to numerous other standards organizations.

Prior to CableLabs, Josh spent eight years leading a global support organization for Voice over Wi-Fi products, and a further decade in wired networking.

He holds an Engineering Master’s degree from the University of Colorado, has multiple patents in wireless signal identification and optimization, serves on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair, and is CWNE #376.

Matt Schmitt

Distinguished Technologist, CableLabs

Matt Schmitt is a Distinguished Technologist at CableLabs. Matt has worked in the cable industry on DOCSIS® and other technologies for over 25 years with CableLabs and several manufacturers. On the DOCSIS technology side he led the development of the DOCSIS 3.1 specifications at CableLabs, and has also led or played a significant role in the development of the DSG, Modular CMTS, DOCSIS 3.0, CCAP, and C-DOCSIS specifications. After leading the Lab Services team at CableLabs for several years, Matt returned to the R&D side of CableLabs and has since become deeply involved in projects related to coherent optics, first leading the CableLabs Point-to-Point Coherent Optics effort, and now leading the Coherent PON (CPON) project. Additionally, Matt has continued to support a variety of efforts at CableLabs ranging from low latency to fixed-mobile convergence, while maintaining responsibility for the various CableLabs Certification programs (including the DOCSIS 4.0 Certification Program).

Luther Smith

Distinguished Technologist, CableLabs

Luther Smith is a Distinguished Technologist and Director of Wireless at CableLabs. While Luther’s current focus is within the Wireless technology, Luther has experience in many Wired, and Video technologies. Over Luther’s 20+ years at CableLabs, his roles have extended from testing and specification development to leading the Wireless Access Team. In addition to his work within CableLabs, Luther is an active contributor and work group chair within the WFA, WBA, IEEE, and WinnFourm. Luther holds a Master of Information Systems and MBA in Technical Management. Luther is ISC2 CISSP certified and a member of the SCTE and IEEE.
