CableLabs, in collaboration with the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) and Intel Corporation, has completed a groundbreaking Wi-Fi 7 field trial demonstrating exceptional performance in real-world residential environments. This industry effort confirms Wi-Fi 7’s significant advancements as the future standard for home connectivity.

Impressive Results

Testing in a 4,500-square-foot home revealed:

• Up to 3.5 Gbps throughput, with peak downlink speeds reaching 3.7 Gbps using 320 MHz channels

• Superior coverage with consistent 2+ Gbps speeds maintained across entire floor levels

• Enhanced uplink performance for video conferencing and cloud applications

• Cleaner 6 GHz spectrum enabling higher data rates and improved reliability

CableLabs led the testing methodologies in residential settings, with the trials highlighting Wi-Fi 7’s substantial throughput improvements, particularly when leveraging 320 MHz channels in the 6 GHz band.

The performance positions Wi-Fi 7 as ideal for bandwidth-intensive and latency-sensitive applications including AR/VR, high-quality video streaming, gaming, and smart home automation across multiple connected devices.
